Thermal  Imaging

Infrared Thermography (or Thermal Imaging) can be defined as "seeing" heat. It works on the principal that everything above -273°C has energy which is invisible to the naked eye. By using high performance instruments such as our IRT camera we can not only see and measure this energy, we can also take thermal images of it, producing an infrared survey of your building.

A well insulated building in good condition should give reasonably consistent temperatures across its surface and - using an IRT camera - those "temperatures" are shown as colours.

The photos below illustrate this by showing the difference in colours representing the measurement of heat loss from a building before and after the installation of cavity wall and roof insulation.

The red colour being an indication of where heat is being lost from the building whilst the green/blue colours show less heat being lost due to the installation of improved insulation.

                                                      before insulation                                   after insulation

                                                                    Before Insulation                                                                    After  Insulation

The colours are simply a visual aid to understanding the temperature gradients involved in each image and, using infrared analysis, we can compile a home energy performance report, rating your home's energy efficiency.

How well insulated is your home?   ACAT is offering free imaging surveys together with a Gold Standard Home Energy Efficiency Report to the first 15 households to apply. To find out more call us on:-  07763 813334 or by e-mail.
